Australia's COVID-19 cases surge past 1,000


Australia’s total cases of COVID-19 has officially passed 1,000 as the nation recorded its seven death from the pandemic.

An 81-year-old Sydney woman contracted the virus through close contact with another confirmed case linked to Ryde Hospital, bringing the New South Wales death toll to six.

NSW has confirmed 436 cases, Queensland 221, Victoria 229, Western Australia 90, South Australia 50, Tasmania 11, Northern Territory three and in the nation’s capital nine.
