Melbourne Vixens bounce back to shoot past West Coast Fever
A clinical Melbourne Vixens responded to their untimely loss last round with a composed win over West Coast Fever on Tuesday night.
The first-placed Vixens were still smarting from an untimely loss to Adelaide on Sunday and coach Simone McKinnis played her first-choice side for almost every minute as they scored a 68-59 win with only a brief injury sub for captain Kate Moloney late in the first term.
Goal-attack Tegan Philip (18 of 19 from one and eight of 10 super goals) was sublime in the first half shooting five two-point super goals while shooter Caitlin Thwaites (30 of 31) was almost perfect inside the circle and Liz Watson (23 goal-assists) was again instrumental with her creative play.
“We did only play two days ago but we weren’t happy with the performance we put out [on Sunday],” Philip told broadcasters.
